When I was travelling around Canada, one of the most popular things said to me when I mentioned that I am from Calgary was “Oh. It’s flat there.”
Well, actually, Calgary is located in the foothills. I live in the Northwest, in a part of the city that is anything but flat. About an hour away from me are the Rocky Mountains which stretch across my part of Canada, and the U.S.
The mountains!
This past weekend, my family and I travelled into the mountains, specifically Kananaskis, for the company Christmas party! My dad is one of the office people, my brother is an outside worker, and I am an inside worker. Plus, my mom went, obviously.
My brother and I being silly before dinner.
We stayed at the Kananaskis Executive Resort, which was lovely. The food was fantastic. We had dinner there, then a bit of dancing, and brunch the next morning. I would have enjoyed it more had my shoulder not still have been in pain. I had forgotten my medication, so my dad found a co-worker who gave me some Tylenol 4 with codeine. Needless to say, I was knocked out. My mom said that everyone was really noisy, all drunk in the hallways, but I didn’t hear a thing! I slept like a baby for a nice eight hours!
I also got a new phone yesterday! Yay! Finally, after years of my crap phone. It is a black LG Chocolate 8500. It’s lovely.
Aww, sounds like fun! Christmas parties rock.
The Canadian rockies are amazingly beautiful. Seriously - driving through them (to go to Alberta from B.C. or vice versa) is a very breathtaking experience. They’re just so huge. And snowy. And imposing.
I’ve never seen real mountains in my life. I need to get out more.
I’ve flown over the Rockies on the way to Oregon, and I’ve gone up Mont Royale (not such a big feat), but that’s about it.
My friend got a Chocolate but she hated it, so she got one in a similar style but made by Samsung.
The mountains look so cool! I know I’ve been there - when I was like, 2 years old. I really want to see them again!
That resort sounds like fun… Too bad about your shoulder though =(
Congrats on your new phone! That’s so weird; one of my close friends just got the same one.
I want to see mountains, Gandalf! Mountains.
I’ve always wanted to go to the Rockies. But that little dream of mine was shot down when I realized that Toronto was really really far away. But then again, I used to think New York was in Canada.
