If you know me at all, you know that it is my ultimate goal to be the world’s biggest know-it-all. I want to know EVERYTHING. I think I’m on the right path so far. I know a lot of stuff, on a lot of different topics, but, as you may imagine, the quest to be the world’s biggest know-it-all is one of those never-ending types. So, I am always looking for new ways to expand my knowledge.

Obviously, I am an avid Wikipedia fan. I can spend days browsing different articles, and absorbing it all (I have a fantastic memory. I’ve been pinpointed many times for my impressive “attention to detail.”), pulling out particularly interesting tidbits, to tear apart and analyze. For fun, I write essays detailing subjects I find particularly interesting. My friends think I am insane, but I find essay writing to be a fun way to organize information and thoughts!

It’s somewhat surprising that, at nearly 20 years of age, I have yet to commence post secondary education. I want to, oh so desperately (And I am hoping it’s not ALL about being drunk, like Nellie says it is. Hopefully, I will be able to find some fellow dorks to hang out with). But I, 1) Am not sure of EXACTLY what I would like to study and turn into a career, and 2) I don’t have the money for it. So, what does one aspiring know-it-all do when she needs to kill time and make money?

She starts work, in the organic foods section of her local supermarket.

In the past, I’ve been a cashier at both Canadian Tire and The Home Depot. I learned a bit about automotive, and  hardware at both places, but I find being a cashier to be endlessly boring. So THIS time around, I beat them from putting me into cash, by blurting out something along the lines of “If I have to touch meat, I will be ill.” Okay, so, not the most mature of remarks, but we all know how simple it is to get a job at a supermarket here. Fourteen year olds work there at night! I don’t mean to be a snob, but it’s true! Even the lady who interviewed was impressed by my past experiences and high school rankings. Not exactly wanting to work in the cosmetics or clothing side of things either (being a girly girl already gives me quite a bit of experience in those areas), I hemmed and hawed until the option of organic foods was brought up.

To be fair, I have a bit of experience in this area. In Katimavik we took Healthy Living, and we did things on organic gardening, etc. I have friends who are allergic to eggs and gluten, so I’ve tried a few of those types of products. Also, I was a vegetarian for 2 years, so many of our tofu and soya products are familiar to me. What really fascinates me are the different herbs and vitamins and such.

What could be more exciting for a know-it-all dork than hundreds of bottles with labels just WAITING to be read? Or, out GIANT book of ailments, and what you can take to heal them?! Almost nothing, that’s what, and I’m quite pleased to be able to be paid to learn about all of them in my spare time!
