I’ve had a calcium deficiency for about 5 years now. It happened when I was a vegetarian, and I’ve just… never been able to catch up, I guess! It’s not that I dislike dairy– in fact, I love it! Cheese is, like, my favourite food. I quite enjoy milk, and although the thought of yogurt makes me ill, I am quite willing to eat it as long as my attention is on something else.

I’ve become quite accustomed to the whole deficiency thing, the main issue being that my nails have always been a little crappy, which I quite despised since I like my nails to be pretty. Which is why I was so shocked to inspect them last night, and find them perfectly smooth and nice and long and strong! Surprised, I began to trace what may have caused this sudden influx of nail health.

Essentially, it comes down to this– I love dairy, but not enough to get enough of it I suppose. Except in the case of chocolate milk. Recently, my parents have been buying chocolate milk as often or more often than regular milk. Since chocolate milk is one of my weaknesses (I love it, and also, I am slightly allergic to it– and I just HATE being denied something. If you tell me “No, don’t have that,” of course, I MUST have it. Especially if it is yummy.), I have been drinking it in tenfold, preparing for the day, perhaps, when my parents decide to cut off the chocolate milk supply and go back to the boring 1% stuff.

So, I suppose, chocolate milk combined with my stubbornness in regards to always getting what I’m not supposed to have, has actually HELPED me! I’m now healthier! Yay!
