May 7th marks the 2nd year that I have been consistently blogging at “I’ve Been Awake All Week.” I’ve always blogged, since 1999, but this has definitely been the most permanent incarnation of a website to date. In my youth, I jack-rabbited around from place to place like it was going out of style! I’ve put a lot more thought into IBAAW/aisling-b.net, which is why it is (maybe) a little less frivolous. 
While I love the structure and familiarity of my current “Internet life,” and I have developed quite a schedule, I must admit, my carefree early Internet days were quite fun. Here are some things that I find amusing about the Internet circa 1999 to present day.
My first web page was on Expage.com, in 1999. I wish I could remember what my URL was, but it was long, stupid, and probably related to a game I used to play with my neighbourhood friends– BIRDS. We were these mystical beings (Birds) that were from outer space, and we fought these henchmen of evil called Ghost Ninjas (they were invisible, hence their name). It was essentially a Sailormoon rip off. Anyway, based on this bit of knowledge, my expage site was probably quite lame, but this was where I started blogging! I would write four or five entries, and then delete them, and start over! Yay! Lack of progress!
I also used to really enjoy NeoPets! My first account was called kitty_klaw (Rawr.) For some reason, it no longer exists! But, my most-used s/n, extreme_sugar, still does! Anyway, I used NeoPets back when Bruce, who is now a cute little penguin-type pet, was this:
WTF? Were the NeoPets people on crack? Why would any child want to own this man, who is clearly some sort of perv? He used to FILL the Neopian Adoption Center. That’s why they made him cute.
And, finally, anybody remember DotTK? I think they’re still around as well, but I’m talking the glory days here. Everyone had a DotTK. I had 3. My first was for my Emma Watson fan site, Ambition. The second was for my fabulous site Dreamie! And then Dreamie, became Extreme-Sugar! I’m pretty sure none of those links work anymore. Mainly I just linked them to show you HOW FREAKING COOL A DOTTK DOMAIN LOOKS!!! (AND, that’s enough sarcasm for today!).
Ah, yes, those were the glory days. But as they say, they’ll pass you by. Glory days. In the wink of a young girl’s eye. How poetic. (And stolen.)

In my precious Neopets account I’m pretty sure I still have a pink, fluffy, Xmas-painted (yes I was a die-hard player) PENGUIN named May Blossoms or something of the sort.
Ahh the good old days. Now it’s blog and FORUM, tsk tsk!
Ah I remember expages, though even back in the days, they weren’t terribly good. I preferred geocities, tripod, envy.nu and f2s.com (completely free ADLESS hosting! Not surprisingly it didn’t last very long).
Ah neopets. I better reactive my pets before they disappear too.
I’m not really sure whether to LOL or weep at that Bruce. Especially because I currently have one!
Lol, Bruce. Why’d he have to change? I think I held a Neopets account for a record breaking few months. I was more into Tamagotchi’s.
My internet history is even more elaborate than yours and I’ve been making websites for less time than you have! I was terrible really. I changed sites like underpants.

I haven’t been around long enough to… well… have any good internet stories like that, except that I used to use frames and IE.
I did used to go on Neopets, but I was never hooked enough to get my pets smart or anything like that.
I never had Neopets, so I can’t really be shocked like everyone else at how Bruce has evolved, but that guy sure is someone I wouldn’t want to have as a pet!

I had two .dot.tk “domains” that pointed to my sailor moon fan site. I also had a clix.to/username redirect from bravenet that I thought was the coolest thing! I never had an expage, I think. I had tripod, geocities, homestead, envy.nu, brinkster and some others that I used less frequently :P

Hahaha yeah I remember that Bruce! And remember when they had Macy Grey, and they had another person Neopet that was a really ugly redhead kid.. bwahahah! And you always had a faerie quest (I wish I had done more of those) and books didn’t go poof.
My first website was on AngelFire. Snicker. It’s still there, too! It really needs to just get off the internet.
