It’s no secret that I love food. This is perhaps demonstrated by the constant stuffing of my face, or the fact that I post some of my favourite recipes on this very site. I’m not a picky eater, and I am quite willing to try most things once. I hope to never try prairie oysters, nor any other food related to the reproductive or excretory systems. But, I am open-minded about most things.
I am most open to Italian cusine. It is one of my biggest regrets in life– not being born into an Italian family. I love it all! Pasta is my love, the cheesier the better! Pizza! Gelato! Canneloni! Canoli! It’s all just so amazing!
I suppose I’m lucky to live in a place like Canada, which is so multicultural that I can have pasta, pizza and my other cheesy loves as often as I want (like, as soon as my father returns home with a pizza at my request.). Can you imagine where I would be if I lived in the Soviet Union?! What would I have eaten then?
I would have eaten borscht. Which would have been an issue, since I am allergic to beets.
Are you a picky eater? What’s your favourite food? And is there anything you would ever refuse to try?
Mountain oysters are actually surprisingly good, even when you KNOW what they are. But then again, I’m really gross and I like gross things. Fish eyeballs, liver & bacon and escargot are particular favourites of mine. :P
My favourite food would have to be mac & cheese though. Extra cheese.
I really, really want to try poutine, but finding cheese curds in NZ is like finding Italian food in Russia!
I’m picky about some things, but I’m not afraid to try new things; it’s just most of the new stuff I try tastes disgusting to me. :P
OH MY GOD I THINK I JUST THREW UP IN MY MOUTH WHEN I CLICKED THAT LINK TO “PRAIRIE OYSTERS”. =\ … ‘Course, being situated just west of the prairies it should have dawned on me that THERE ARE NO OCEANS IN THE PRAIRIES.
All testicles aside, I love Italian cuisine too! And Chinese. And Greek. And East Indian. And American. And basically everything except maybe Thai, which I am not overly fond of.
We’re definitely lucky to live in Canada - the diversity is incredible. Going out to eat is not a matter of where, but what *kind*. :P
I should have been Japanese. I love every single type of Japanese food I’ve ever tried. I like Italian too, though, especially ravioli. I agree 100% about living in Canada. You can get almost every food here. I feel so lucky.
I’m a totally picky eater - I don’t eat any vegetables and most of the things I eat usually have a lot of cheese in or on them. I used to be worse, I basically lived off noodles for a while, but I’m a lot more tolerant nowadays.
I love Mexican Food, Chinese is pretty good too, and Pizza of course
I am a very picky eater, way too picky. I won’t lots of things, just because they look horrible or the texture looks unappealing.
I should’ve been born Italian as well! I’m not a picky eater but I’m just really, really fascinated by Italian cuisines. Pasta, calzone, pizza, you name it! I even cook pasta for myself.
Me too! I love Italian food so much more than Chinese food, which makes me feel like a traitor to my own culture… but oh well, I suppose a lot of people are like that.
Can you imagine if I were born into an Italian family and had a really awesome grandmother (or something) who would teach me how to cook really awesome Italian food?!
I’m not *that* picky — I’m willing to try almost everything once, but like you said, anything related to the excretory system…um, no thanks.
I should have been born Japanese, because I love everything about that culture, including the food. Though I do love Italian as well…the cheesier the better. I’m lucky to live in an area that is very multicultural. I can eat Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, and Italian all in one day if I wanted to (even at one sitting if I went to that big buffet place).
I’m not too picky about the food I eat, but I will definitely not eat something with onions in it. I will pick them out if they’re big enough, otherwise I won’t bother.
