There was a time when I was a real homebody. I was quite content to stick around my own city, and do the same things I always did. Unfortunately, my family didn’t suit this kind of thing, and I found myself moving around a bit as a child.
I suppose it finally caught up with me though, and after Katimavik, which was 9 months of get-up-and-go, it pains me to stay in one place for too long. Thankfully, my parents have been accomodating this somewhat, by planning cool vacations for us to take this summer.
You may recall that I took a camping trip up to Pigeon Lake at the end of June/ beginning of July. I use the word “camping,” in the loosest sense of the word, since my parents prefer the brand that involves trailers and electricty. Whereas, I, in a fashion totally against what would be expected of me (I’m a prissy girly girl.) rather enjoy roughing it in a tent, without a shower, and yes, even with an outhouse!
This time around, we’re headed into the BC interior, more specifically, Penticton. I’ve been camping here before when I was a wee one, but I don’t remember it. I do, however, remember living an hour away in Kelowna at the end of 2006/ beginning of 2007, so I can say with quite certainty that this trip wil be awesome. I love BC! (I was also born there, in Vancouver.).
Bert, my new iPod, is fully charged and ready for the 8-ish hour drive through the rockies. I have yet to charge my camera battery, but I’d better get on that because photo ops await! After I finish writing this, I shall pack up my hot pink suitcase. I have a small craft project this evening, then bedtime. Work starts early, at 7am tomorrow, and my dad and I are picking up my co-worker Lyndsey on the way. At noon, I finish my shift, head home, and clean up, and we’ll be off in no time! Lyndsey has agreed to check up on our cats, and water our plants, so we’re all set for a stress-free weekend.
Best of all, we will be going to the Penticton Katimavik house on Friday night (my baby brother, Matt, who is in fact 18 and a foot taller than me, is in Katimavik there), and cookng dinner for their group, then we are stealing Matt for 72 hours! We haven’t seen him since January, so it will be quite cool, even though he will be returning home August 29th!
I’m expecting Penticton to be boiling, as it is most often sporting 40C temperatures, but my mom says it may rain a bit, which is alright by me. I’m not a huge fan of extreme heat, I love rain, and I would like to wear my red skinny jeans without burning up!
Well, I’d best stop blabbling, and get on with it! See y’all next week!
