Switches

I’m ditching Dreamhost, and moving over to Holdfire! So, there may be a few hiccups over the next little bit. I need to move over the main aisling-b.net site, plus my q*bee quilt, my fanlisting collective and my photo gallery first, and then move over some other in-progress sites. So, it may take a bit of time as I am 1) working quite a bit, 2) lazy and 3) preparing for my trip to BC, which I leave for a week from today.

So… yes. Just FYI in case something goes awry!

In other news, I just learned on Dr. Phil that sperm allergies exist!

Also, I bought red skinny jeans today.

Have I Broken The World Record For Themes Yet?

Right. Here’s a new one! Well, it’s not exactly “new.” I made it while playing around with a few things two weeks ago. And I decided to put it up today. It’s called “Calm,” because it’s generally… calm. Quite different from my regular noise and chaos, I suppose.

I can’t see any issues with it so far, other than the fact that it screws up in IE 5 and 6. Essentially, the navigation scoots over toward the right in both situations. I don’t know why, and I’m not feeling well, so I’m not up to finding out! So, if any of you can figure out a quick fix, please let me know. Otherwise, I suppose the IE <6ers can tough it out for a bit!

That’s all, really! Not up to much other than not feeling well, and preparing for this weekend’s camping trip. In case I forget to mention, I’m leaving town on Thursday evening and will not be back until some time on the 1st of July (Canada Day!). So, I wouldn’t expect any blogging during those days, and maybe not any before then (but, who knows, really? I’m a bit of a bloggy/chatty person. I could use a ramble sometime on Wednesday.).

Colour Schemes

This entry comes from a comment the lovely Lil left on last week’s post regarding my new layout.

The doodle at the bottom is so cute! Say how do you come up with these colour schemes? I’m rather taken by them. Do you have a colour lovers account? I urge you to make one :D

It’s actually very simple.

I go to my closet.

Essentially, everything in my closet are colours, textures and fabrics that I enjoy. And what is my website but my online “clothing,” ? So, when I’m stuck for colour ideas, I find a favourite outfit and pull the colours from that. Whenever someone asks me advice on a colour, I find an article of clothing similar to their base colour, and move from my closet, to my dresser, to my jewellery box, etc., until I find a suitable accent to suggest. If someone has absolutely no idea of what colours they want to use, I suggest their closet. It really just makes sense.

For example, my current layout was inspired by my plaid capris that my good friend Joelle bought from the thrift store in La Pocatiere, Quebec. One slightly chilly night, she let me borrow them (for I am an avid skirt-wearer, and in the summer I am virtually unaware of the location of jeans). We were in billeting, so we had no access to our house, and I ended up wearing them for most of the two weeks! Finally, Joelle told me I could keep them. They’re terribly comfortable, and I love love LOVE plaid. SO MUCH. So, last week, when I was looking for some colours for a new layout for this thing, I happened to be wearing these capris. So, I took a shot of my leg and the rest is history!
