This Layout Is Stolen

As you may be able to see (if it’s finished loading), there is a new layout up. You may find bits of it to be similar. That is because it’s all stolen. Luckily, I stole it all from my self. Almost every bit of this layout some of you have seen before.

I really don’t know what to say! The last layout was just so boring. This is certainly less boring. But also… it’s a killer in the loading time. Which means, it probably won’t be around long, because slow loading times are annoying as hell.

So… yup. Normally I would try to muster enthusiasm, or something, but it’s hot and sticky and I don’t feel well. So, ugh.

How could you survive?

I just had a thought.

For me, music is a BIG DEAL. Sure, I don’t actually play anything, but my iPod and I are inseparable (I take him- his name is Jean-François- to work, when I go out, to bed, EVERYWHERE!), and it is a rare moment to find me not singing. I’m lucky enough to be interested in quite a few genres. I favour pop, pop rock, and big band swing music. But I also have a deep love of rock, country and classical. Essentially, if you were to name a genre, I could come up with at least one corresponding song I enjoy. I even like rap! I sometimes like to sing along about mah bitchez and hos. And I can totally get off on fiddle music. Two step, anyone? Sue me.

So, like I said, I’m lucky. I have a wide range of music appreciation.

But, not all people do. In fact, if I had to guess, quite a few people my age don’t enjoy the sexy sounds of Frank Sinatra (Blasphemy, I say!). Judging by one of the most popular radio stations for my age group, Vibe98.5, most people like Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Leona Lewis. And so do I. Excellent.

I got to thinking about those people who only like one genre of music. What if they lived in a different time? How would someone who loves rap do in 1942, when every second song played on the radio was my dear Frankie? Is there something built in to our personality that dictates which music we find appealing? Or is it more, like, what we’re exposed to? If a rap fan today were to have been born in the late 1920s, and therefore have been a teenager in the 1940s, would they then be turned into a Sinatra fan, just because that was what was most readily available to them?

What about you? Would you be able to survive in a different decade, or is your Britney Spears CD the be-all and end-all of your musical tastes?

I’m mellllllltiiiiiiinggggg.

I am not one to appreciate extreme weather. Unfortunately, I live in the Canadian Prairies. The winters are freezing, around -40C some times. The summers are scorching. And to top it off, it’s dry. All the time. So, I am dry. As much as I moisturize, I maintain a cover of light white dry dust on my skin. It’s gross. It won’t go away. (Until I make my escape back to Quebec…) Gah.

Yesterday was the first day of really hot weather. And I was in the worst place– the bus. I completely overheated and I’ve been sick since then. And sniffling. I don’t get it. Colds are for the WINTER, not the summer! In any case, all signs point to slight on-set of heat stroke (something I am blessed to get a few times every summer since I was seven.). Fun fun.

It’s only +26C. It can get so much worse. And when it does, I will go dig myself a hole in the backyard, next to the house so I can have shade, and I will sit in my hole. Because I hate heat.

So, that’s what I’m up to. Dying. Also, my parents have left me alone for the May Long weekend, because I have to work the whole thing, and they have to go North for my great-grandmother’s funeral (she passed away Xmas day, but they waited until now for the funeral so it would be nice out). So, I’m here, with no food, cooking on the inside and the outside, and I have to drag myself to work a few times.

I’m not pleased.
