Short story: I’ve been blogging since I was eleven years old. This is my latest blogging endeavour.
Long story: I was introduced to the Internet in 1999. I was eleven years old, and I thought it was the coolest thing. My first blog was on an icky site called “Expage.com.” Essentially, I just typed silly things on my Expage, and then deleted them every few weeks! Then, I became interested in NeoPets using the user name kitty_klaw (but my most used user name was extreme_sugar), and somehow that got me interested in having my own site.
Thus, I created BlueStarz. At first it was a blog, then for a while it was a little group blog for my friends, and then it went back to a personal site with some (badly made) graphics. The site continued this way, and developed to what it is today. It had many names since then, including Dream-vision, Kiwi Kissez, Daffodil-Splash, Dreamie, Extreme-Sugar, Dahling, Shaded Yellow, Loopygurl and many others! It has been hosted at various free sites, and by Kat from kitty-luv.com, lax-girl.org and toxic-passion.net. In 2005, it was hosted by OneSite on the domain Symphonic-Love.net, which was a tribute to my favourite show, at the time, 15/Love. In addition to these personal sites, I also had online journals at Diaryland, Livejournal, Xanga and Blogger. From 2001 until 2004 I ran an Emma Watson fan site, called “Ambition.” In 2006, I discovered that I had less time to dedicate to a full-fledged site, so I moved my blog to Blogger for the next year and and ten months. I re-named it to I’ve Been Awake All Week, which is a line from the song “Disco Lights,” by the band The Cadets. Blogger was nice, and proved to be an effective way to record my day-to-day life as I participated in the Katimavik program. However, when I returned home, I quickly got back into the land of web communities, and joined a forum called Snark where some of the l33t reside. First I bought the domain aisling-b.net, which I linked to my Blogger account. I was quickly converted to Wordpress, and after a bit of a slip up (i.e. I deleted everything) and some annoying downtime with my free host, I decided to buy hosting with Dreamhost. I got a really great deal from them, and so far I’ve been impressed with their quick service!
